PANIER DES SENS celebrates Grasse perfumery and its traditional know-how, with a new collection based on perfume absolutes.
- A true high-end perfume, an absolute is the most precious oil of the plant raw material. Absolutes are highly concentrated, fragrant natural plant extracts, produced from a plant through the extractive action of an organic solvent. Extraction begins with maceration (from the Latin macerare "to soak") of the plant to obtain what is known as a concentrate. This solid concentrate is then melted and dissolved in alcohol, removing insoluble waxes and retaining pigments and essences. The final step is to separate the alcohol from the perfumed substance: the result is an absolute, a dense, precious and highly concentrated liquid.
