- Après leur naissance, les veaux sont léchés avec amour par leur mère dans l'étable jusqu'à ce qu'ils soient secs. Après quelques jours à peine, ils peuvent sortir dans le pâturage pour gambader et jouer. Quelques semaines plus tard, ils commencent aussi à manger de l'herbe et du foin qu'ils ne digèrent pourtant pas encore aussi bien que les adultes. Ils continuent donc à boire le lait de leur mère pendant six à douze mois. À cinq ans, ils sont adultes et peuvent atteindre l'âge de 20 à 25 ans.
