Beginner's photography course, one-day course (7h)

• The 7-hour intensive program consists of two units, theory and practice. In the first 4 hours you will learn the most important basics and techniques of photography. Terms such as focus, ISO, exposure time, exposure triangle and composition will no longer be foreign to you
• After this theory section, you'll go outside to put what you've learned into practice in creative exercises - after all, practice makes perfect.
• 4 hours of theory
  • Basic knowledge about the camera: ISO, aperture, shutter speed, shooting mode, flash, focus
  • Exposure: use of ISO, shutter speed and aperture
  • Use of different lenses and accessories: When do I use what?
  • Creative techniques: Creating depth of field, different shutter speeds for different movements
  • Composition: rule of thirds, landscape to portrait photos, objects in the picture
  • Typical mistakes: Poorly lit? Blurred? Boring? Your photos will be critically analysed and you will be given valuable tips.
• 3 hours of practice: «Learning by doing» with creative exercises

Beginner's photography course, evening course, 5 weeks (10h)

• The evening course takes place one evening per week
  • Basic knowledge about the camera: ISO, aperture, shutter speed, shooting mode, flash, focus
  • Exposure: use of ISO, shutter speed and aperture
  • Creative techniques: Creating depth of field, different shutter speeds for different movements
  • Image composition: rule of thirds, landscapes to portraits, objects in the image
  • Tips and tricks: Poorly lit? Blurred? Boring? Your photos will be critically (and kindly) analysed and you will be given valuable tips to take away with you.
  • Weekly homework with feedback: This allows you to practise independently without the presence of your teacher to ensure that you really have mastered the concepts. You will grow from the personalised feedback. The assignments will be discussed at the beginning of the course.
• Practice over the entire course period: «learning by doing» with practical exercises, tasks on discussed theory, direct and targeted feedback

Swiss Photo Club – develop your skill set in photography
The Swiss Photo Club is a photo community and educational organisation based in Switzerland. The club offers a wide range of activities. You finally have (or have had for ages) your own camera, but don't really know how to use it? Do you take most of your photos in auto mode or even with your mobile phone instead? You can do better: this course will teach you how to take better photos in a short space of time. You got this (on film).

What you need to bring with you

• Your camera – whether it's a digital SLR (DSLR), a mirrorless camera (DSLM), or a bridge camera (superzoom)
• The only important thing is that you can choose the exposure mode (P, A/Av, S/Tv, M)
• Don't have your own camera yet? Please let Swiss Photo Club know in advance and a camera will be provided for you for the course.
