This is where the careers of real military pilots began
Before an aspiring Swiss military pilot ever climbed into a fighter aircraft, he first sat here: in the open cockpit of the yellow Bücker biplane. It was on this aircraft type that the elite of the Swiss Air Force was trained from 1936 to 1971: stick handling, aircraft control, courage and precision. Whoever mastered the Bücker was ready for the next step. And now you can experience that very training yourself.

Your flight instructor
One of the true highlights of this experience is the man sitting behind you. Your pilot is not an airshow pilot, but a genuine former military pilot who originally learned his flying skills on this very biplane. He has been flying the Bücker for decades and knows every characteristic and every detail of this aircraft. He is not your pilot, but your flight instructor. He takes the time to explain everything to you step by step, shows you how this flying piece of history works and shares authentic stories from real military pilot life that you won't find in any book. He also tells you what it was like to be trained, what discipline in the cockpit truly means and why this modest little biplane shaped so many careers.

This is how your training works
1. Introduction to the aircraft: First, you get to know your biplane – an original aircraft that is almost 90 years old. Your pilot explains what this aircraft can do, what really matters and why it was built for pilot training.
2. The briefing: Just like real Air Force recruits, everything starts on the ground. Your flight instructor explains the flight programme, the controls and the manoeuvres. Curiosity turns into understanding.3. Dress like a pilot: Leather flying helmet on, aviator goggles down, harness securely fastened. You sit in the front, in the open cockpit. Wind in your face, unobstructed views and the pure feeling of flying.
4. The flight and you take the controls: Now it's time to take off. Under your instructor's guidance, you take hold of the control stick yourself and feel how the aircraft responds to every movement. Gentle turns or, if you dare, your first real aerobatic manoeuvres such as loops and rolls, just as they were part of military flight training.
5. Debriefing and hangar stories: After landing, there is time for photos, questions and the best stories from a pilot's life – often over a drink at the airfield restaurant.
