Swissminiatur – Switzerland in miniature format since 1959
This precision craftsmanship has been faithfully and passionately executed since 1959 as part of the historical heritage. The park itself is located in Melide on the shores of Lake Lugano, surrounded by the impressive mountain scenery of Monte Generoso, Monte San Salvatore and Monte San Giorgio. The latter is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can enjoy a break in a harmonious, natural environment. On a rare scale of 1:25, 129 models of Switzerland's most famous buildings, monuments and means of transport are on display. Among the miniatures, reproduced down to the smallest detail, you will find Rapperswil Castle, Chillon Castle and the castles of Bellinzona, the Federal Palace in Bern and the Piazza Grande in Locarno. Immerse yourself in the miniature world of the history of the Swiss Railway a 3.560m long miniature railway network winds its way through the park, with 18 trains running on the tracks. You can admire the cable cars going up and down the mountains, the ships ploughing through the lakes and the cars speeding past on the motorway. At Zurich-Kloten Airport, the aeroplanes prepare for take-off!
