Stoneware is a clay-based material used in the making of plates and dishes by being fired in the oven at 1100-1300 degrees. It is much more durable than ceramic and does not absorb water as much as ceramics. Due to being fired at a higher temperature, it can be safely used in the microwave, oven, and dishwasher for many years.
