Cinque Autoctoni Italian Wine, 75 cl
As its name suggests, ‘Cinque Autoctoni' is made from five grape varieties from southern Italy: Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Negroamaro, Primitivo and Malvasia Nera – a real treat!
Intense and lingering notes of cherries, blackcurrants, herbs, cinnamon, cloves, cocoa and liquorice give way to a subtle mineral aroma. On the palate, it is pleasantly structured, with a fine balance between alcohol and freshness. Velvety tannins and a long, lingering finish make for a spectacular conclusion.
The winery
One imagines a boutique as an intimate space, offering very special items. Since the 1990s, the term has also been used in Bordeaux to refer to talented winemakers who excel at producing exceptional wines in small quantities. However, two wine enthusiasts from southern Italy have proved, to everyone's amazement, that this principle can also be applied to larger-scale production, with blends sourced from different regions.
Farnese wines were once served at the tables of European royalty. They came from the finest vineyards in southern Italy and were aged in the cellars of Caldora Castle in Ortona. The cellar has been restored to preserve the tradition and ensure the wines are kept in the perfect conditions of yesteryear.
