The estate

• A Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, Château Figeac embodies the excellence of the great Bordeaux wines throughout the world. Château Figeac has been owned by the Manoncourt family for over 120 years.

The vineyard

• Château Figeac enjoys an exceptional location, to the west of the Saint-Émilion appellation, on the edge of the Pomerol appellation. The estate's vineyard covers 40 hectares of vines planted across three distinct gravelly hilltops. Respect for biodiversity, flora and fauna are central to the estate's ethos.

The Wine

• Produced to the same exacting standards as the Grand Vin, Petit-Figeac is Château Figeac's second wine. Under the leadership of Thierry Manoncourt, Château Figeac has been producing a second wine since 1945; from the 2012 vintage onwards, it has taken the name of a historic plot, ‘Petit-Figeac', situated at the heart of the estate.

The Vintage

• A rainy autumn was followed by a particularly warm and dry winter. The mild spring weather was offset by high humidity, conditions favourable to early budbreak, which occurred two weeks ahead of schedule. Cool, damp spells throughout April and May increased the risk of disease. In mid-May, early flowering took place under very good conditions. Whilst June was cool, the summer conditions were hot and dry. Strategic decisions regarding vineyard management (light leaf removal, shallow ploughing, and green harvesting tailored to the potential of each vine) allowed for the gradual development of the vegetative cycle in each plot. Sufficient water reserves, thanks to the spring rains, protected the vineyard from water stress and proved vital for refining the ripening process. The harvested grapes were of exceptional quality, combining aromatic freshness, texture and density.

Winemaking and ageing

• Winemaking takes place in barriques (30% new), as does the ageing process, which lasts 12 to 15 months.

Blend

• Petit Figeac 2021 is a blend of Merlot (71%), Cabernet Franc (19%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%).

• A wine of great elegance, Petit-Figeac 2021 captivates with its roundness, refinement, expression of fruit and delicate tannins.
