Set of 6 Bollinger Spécial Cuvée Champagne Brut Bottles - 75 cl

Description

  • Description

In 1911, Georges Bollinger's British agent suggested the name Special Cuvée, written in the English style and without an accent. Indeed, he found the expression "Brut sans année" inappropriate for a champagne of such subtlety... More than a hundred years later, the name of this emblematic cuvée from the House of Bollinger still contains all its history. A way of imprinting on the label and in the memory what the taste buds already know: Special Cuvée is very... special. It reflects all the House's expertise, in its ability to recreate each year a cuvée consistent in style and quality!

    Features

    The estate

Maison Bollinger, affectionately known as "Boll" in Champagne and "Bolly" in England, has embodied excellence since it was founded in Aÿ in 1829. Famous for its scrupulous respect for tradition and its relentless pursuit of quality, this historic House remains true to its heritage. With practices such as manual riddling of bottles and the use of corks for reserve magnums, Bollinger perpetuates a unique craftsmanship.

    The vineyard

This House looks after a 174-hectare terroir, mostly classified as Grands Crus and Premiers Crus de Champagne.

Bollinger Special Cuvée: a champagne of character

Maison Bollinger's Special Cuvée, born of a suggestion by Georges Bollinger's British agent in 1911, quickly established itself as an exceptional Champagne. The name, chosen for its subtlety and elegance, reflects the champagne's unique character and complexity. Blended predominantly with Pinot Noir, supplemented by Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, Special Cuvée is the fruit of meticulous work and perfect mastery of blending.

    Vinification and ageing

The vinification of Bollinger Special Cuvée is a precise alchemy that respects tradition. The exclusive use of cuvée (first press) and a moderate dosage of between 7 and 8 g/liter express the champagne's purity and finesse. Prolonged maturation in the cellar underlines Bollinger's commitment to excellence, revealing a Brut champagne of remarkable structure and complexity.

Cellar maturation, twice as long as appellation standards, and the use of reserve wines kept for up to 15 years in magnums, give this champagne its depth and aromatic richness.

    Blend

Pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier.
