- Vinification: The ageing process of around 15 months took place in French and Hungarian oak barrels, some new, some second use. After an initial phase of ageing in separate batches, these were assembled and continued to develop in wood. The wine, made predominantly from Sangiovese with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, refined for a further 12 months in the bottle before being released to the market.
- Culinary recommendation: Ideal with roasted or braised meats and dark meats.
- Aroma & taste: Intense ruby red in color, Tignanello impresses on the nose with its complexity: notes of ripe fruit such as cherry, strawberry and blackberry accompany delicate floral hints of violet, mallow and rose, aromas of roasted coffee and cocoa powder complete the bouquet. The attack on the palate is vibrant at first, then full-bodied and complex. The finish combines spicy notes of pepper and licorice with pleasant impressions of aromatic herbs, giving length and freshness.
