The estate

Overlooking the Gironde estuary for nearly three centuries, Château Sociando-Mallet is one of the most respected estates in the Haut-Médoc.

Owned by Sieur Sociando in the 17th century, the Mallet family added their name after acquiring the estate in the 19th century.

Since 1969, the Gautreau family has infused this iconic estate on the left bank of Bordeaux with their passion and energy.

The winery

Château Sociando-Mallet 2022 is a Haut-Médoc wine produced from a 77-hectare vineyard situated at the summit of the Baleyron hill, in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne.

With an average age of 35 years, the vines are planted on a terroir of gravel and clay resting on a clay-limestone subsoil.

Vinification and ageing

Harvested by hand, the grapes are sorted on a sorting table before and after destemming.

Traditional vinification in temperature-controlled cement and stainless steel vats, accompanied by pumping over and racking.

Vatting for 25 days. Malolactic fermentation in vats. The wine is aged for 12 months in barrels, 85% of which are new.

Blend

This Sociando-Mallet 2022 is a blend of Merlot (63%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%) and Cabernet Franc (2%).
