The Estate
As the oldest of Bordeaux's Grands Crus, Château Haut-Brion boasts a rich heritage built on five centuries of history. Founded in 1533 by Jean de Pontac in the Graves region, Château Haut-Brion's wine quickly became coveted and appreciated by Europe's greatest monarchs. In 1663, Samuel Pepys, a member of the English Parliament, unwittingly contributed to the success of Château Haut-Brion through his diary, writing, “And there I drank a sort of French wine called Ho-Bryan, which had a very peculiar and pleasant taste that I had never encountered before.” A legend was born. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé outside the Médoc in 1855 and recognized as a Cru Classé in the Official Classification of Graves Wines in 1959, Château Haut-Brion continues to write the legend of the world's greatest wines by confirming, vintage after vintage, its exceptional consistency. As the second wine of the Premier Grand Cru Classé Château Haut-Brion, Le Clarence de Haut-Brion follows in the footsteps of its elder. Combining all the qualities of a great wine, Le Clarence de Haut-Brion offers more immediate drinkability.

A true gem of the Pessac-Léognan A.O.C., located in the heart of the Pessac metropolitan area in the Bordeaux region, Château Haut-Brion boasts an exceptional terroir on soils composed of multicolored gravel, which produce sumptuous, elegant, and precise wines of incredible consistency from one vintage to the next.
The vintage
2020 is the third earliest on record at Château Haut-Brion. Winter and spring were mild and wet, promoting early budbreak followed by an equally early flowering in the spring. The hot, dry summer slowed growth and allowed for the slow ripening of perfectly healthy grapes at harvest time, resulting in rich wines with beautiful freshness.
Blend
Merlot (60.1%), Cabernet Sauvignon (31.7%), Cabernet Franc (6.7%), and Petit Verdot (1.5%).
