Description
The balance and freshness of a Pauillac Second Wine
The Estate
Located on the outskirts of Pauillac, Château Lynch Bages is an estate that has left its mark on the history of the Médoc. Although the Bages terroir has been known since the 16th century, it was in the 18th century that it gained renown. Under the leadership of the son of an Irish citizen named Thomas Lynch, the Bages wine was recognized at the Paris World's Fair. Acquired by the J-M Cazes family on the eve of World War II, Château Lynch-Bages is one of the finest examples of the Pauillac appellation.
The Vineyard
Château Lynch-Bages is a Pauillac wine produced from a 110-hectare vineyard planted on Garonne gravel soils. The vineyard's parcel layout is refined using satellite technology to preserve the estate's viticultural genetic heritage. The terroir's homogeneous geology ensures a good water supply to the vines in a region with a moderate climate.
The Wine
Écho de Lynch-Bages is the second wine of the prestigious Pauillac Grand Cru Classé, Château Lynch-Bages.
Winemaking and Aging
Grapes are harvested by hand and sorted in the vineyard. Malolactic fermentation takes place two-thirds in tanks and one-third in barrels. The wine is aged for 12 months in one-wine barrels.
Blend
Écho de Lynch-Bages 2021 is a blend of Merlot (56%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (44%).
