It is made and marketed under the name Testamatta 2018 by producer Bibi Graetz. The 2018 vintage comes from old vines and was hand-picked. Vinification is carried out with indigenous yeasts, in open barrels, followed by long aging.This wine stands out for its purity of varietal expression, an aromatic profile dominated by black berries such as blackberry and blueberry, earthy and slightly mineral notes. It has an elegant texture, silky yet structured tannins and a long finish. It's a wine for ageing with high potential.FeaturesVarietal and origin:Testamatta 2018 is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes. The grapes come from five selected parcels of the estate, located in different areas of Tuscany, including Vincigliata, Londa, Lamole, Montefili and Siena. These parcels are made up of very old vines, up to 80 years old, planted on a variety of soils offering great aromatic complexity to the wine.Vinification and ageing:The grapes are harvested by hand, with several passes through the vines to ensure optimum ripeness (up to eight passes depending on the parcel). Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in 225-liter open barrels, with several daily manual punchings of the cap. After a seven- to ten-day maceration, the wine is transferred to old barrels for aging of around twenty-two to twenty-four months, giving it structure, elegance and depth.Style and longevity:The style of Testamatta 2018 is distinguished by its balance of freshness, fruitiness and intensity. The wine expresses precise aromas of ripe red and black fruits, floral and slightly spicy touches, supported by a refined texture. Alcohol is moderate, around 13.5%. <h4 class="product-detail-title">Description</h4><div class="product-detail-text"><ul class="product-detail-attribute-value"><li>On the nose, it is characterised by aromas of white and red fruits, accompanied by subtle floral notes and a delicate hint of herbaceousness. On the palate, it reveals remarkable roundness and length. Its deep purple colour blends elegantly with a subtle note of Caucasian oak acquired during ageing. This wine is made from grapes grown in Alto Agrelo and is the result of the co-fermentation of three grape varieties grown in different soil types, harvested and vinified together on the same day. Through a process involving cold pre-fermentation maceration and controlled alcoholic fermentation at between 24 and 26 °C, we aim to achieve velvety tannins and exceptional body.</li></ul></div>
